OUGD403 (Studio Brief 5) Poster Development

Crit
For the interim crit, I presented these sketched poster designs, as I felt like there needed to be a lot of development, but I was unsure which three ideas I should take further to produce.  Bearing in mind that the final three posters need to work as a set of three, not just stand alone, it will be helpful to get feedback on which posters my peers think would work well together to create this set of three high impact posters. With the poster sketches, I also presented the summary of research that brought me to starting point for my development of posters.

The feedback I gained from this crit:
  • I could layer text, twitter and obsession overlaid
  • develop the twitter zombie idea, use of hash tags
  • are people hiding behind twitter? are they dead inside due to social network?
  • symbolise the truth within the image
  • keep the idea of direct questions to the audience
  • keep it cool and sinister
  • less is more, stick with the minimalist qualities already present
  • use simple typeface but still keep it bold
  • try including the '@' symbol to relate to twitter, also it directs it at the audience
  • keep posters informative
From the crit, overall I gained extremely helpful feedback, and I will take into consideration the ideas of keeping the direct questions to the audience and try and develop the twitter zombie further.

I feel like the twitter zombie is powerful to use alone as the image poster, as it portrays a tired worn out bird suggesting and relating to the idea of being so consumed. I have developed my initial sketch further and refined the bird so that it will be suitable to stand alone as the image poster.

To start developing my final poster designs, I will need to research further into existing poster designs.
